App wont open on IPad Pro running iOS 9.2. This app was my favorite writing app simply because of its simplicity and just getting out of my way while writing. I loved it... but I cant give an app more than 1 star when I cant use it.

iA Writer is simple, unassuming with no distractions. It is everything I need and want. Except for one thing. There is no support for OneDrive. When that is supported Ill give this another star.

Dropbox sync stays stuck at initial sync, even if I leave it for an hour.

O.K. I have to admit after using the new version for sometime now that this app still rocks and retains the simplicity and power of the lamented earlier version. -------------- What happened to this formerly awesome app? The last version of iA Writer Pro was amazing. Now its just ordinary.

Writer keeps getting better and better. It has become essential for any writing that I do, from outlining documents/presentations to writing formal documents and everything in between. I can write/edit in a simple text interface. I can use Markdown formatting to quickly structure my document; when I’m done I can export to many of the major formats (including HTML and PDF). I gladly purchased Writer on iOS and Mac; it was well-worth the relatively small cost for a professional program like this. Thanks to the developers for the frequent updates with excellent feature additions and fine-tuning!

Thank you for the addition of the hardware keyboard shortcuts! My notes are very list heavy, and this will make editing much easier. The TOC was an unexpected but very welcomed addition. ----- Excellent update! I really appreciate the options for controlling headings, paragraphs, and header/footer on export. Best of all, I no longer have to Rename files when I export them! As I mentioned in my original review (below), I use the "md" extension. Thank you for continuing to polish this wonderful app! ----- I use Markdown for taking notes in meetings daily, to help organize my life and hobbies, and to draft emails and forum posts outside of their respective clients. Ive purchased and used Drafts, Editorial, Textastic, Byword, Elements, and Vesper... and iA Writer is the BEST app for my needs. I was a long time Drafts user and fan, but I continued running into iCloud sync issues over the years. iA Writer is simple and clean, but has the specific features I seek: exporting to pdf/html/rtf, flawless cloud syncing with iCloud/Dropbox, and opening from/into other apps. I really like the interface design with the traditional file/edit/etc menu. It keeps things out of the way, and provides logical organization to find what I need quickly. The developer updates with support for the latest iOS features very quickly (compared to other Markdown apps). My only requests are additional control over font size/type in the editor, additional formatting options for whats exported (additional or custom themes), and support for additional file extensions (for some reason it doesnt let me select .md files from Box using File > Open). If youre looking for a simple and powerful markdown editor with solid cloud syncing, this is it!

Keeps adding nice new useful features with every update. This is a masterpiece of software that makes the entire writing process more efficient and effective. Its worth every penny because it improves the written word. I have two small requests: support for spotlight searching and the ability to make the type a bit smaller in landscape mode. Otherwise its perfect and one of my most used apps.

Word processor apps that lose words are apps that never earn my trust back. Apparently this happens enough for there to be troubleshooting on the matter, but none of the troubleshooting has helped. I liked the app for a while, but it takes just one instance of something like this to lose someone.

this writing/document application is easily worth many times its asking price..! without question. it would require a monograph to begin to convey what this app represents. it is incomprehensible how anyone could possibly question this apps quality which is constantly being upgraded & improved. if you desire & have been seeking the "ultimate" in document fabrication....this then becomes a MUST purchase. note that it is from a German software company which says alot..!!

Now that the problem was fixed the app is now once again working perfectly and thanks to the number of words of can see typed it has helped me out greatly.

This app is a phenomenal minimalist text editor! It is by far the best note-taking app I have used, but I wish it had some crucial features. I wish I could insert local pictures (without having to create a web link) and draw into the document. Sometime I am in class and want to sketch a diagram/model quickly or take a picture of a slide, but I am limited by iA Writer. I understand that this app is purposefully minimalist, but having a few extra features would be a great plus.

Much more plain. With features that "get it" done. I still have to use Word for formatting MLA/APA but Id never write in there. Ulysses offers the same clutter for twice the price and zero richness. With IA I just write. I get in there and get it done. I review words with syntax highlighting, and have a comforting night mode without all the extra menus burning off precious moonlight creativity.

Really? I purchased this app with much prior to clicking "buy" there was once two versions & I bought the "pro" version which is ??? Lack organization & other syntax errors made me dump this once $10 app. I moved on to a much more productive & professional writers application.

I have never written a review for any of the hundreds of apps Ive downloaded. iA writer has changed the way I get my thoughts out. With a seamless ecosystem that updates across all my devices as I write, and the importance to me of the stripped down simplicity of white text on a black screen, I can now concentrate on the words. I have it for my iMac as well, so I can write on my home computer and then tweak and edit on the phone, or vice Versa. It has provided me with an elegant and inspiring way to write, and my thoughts are spilling out like they havent before. Thank you iA writer, for giving me exactly what I needed.

Ive tried a lot of notes apps on both iOS and the Mac and iA Writer is by far my favorite. Aside from the syncing, the preview, and an export functionality that actually works, my favorite thing is the sense of peace and quiet I feel when I open it. Its simple layout and beautiful font give a space to my thoughts that I find few other places. Highly recommend.

Cant select text in split screen. Keyboard wont show up. Cant move identifier in split screen mode correctly. … Even more for you to fine out!(Yeah!)

I write a daily MLB baseball letter of about 1200 words on this app ... I use it for 3-4 hours at a time ... It has all the tools I need & is fun to use ... The iA staff offers consistent upgrades and prompt personal assists when needed ... I recommend this application with enthusiasm & without reservation!

Ive used IA Writer in all its incarnations and consistently choose it over most other available apps. In my use case its more for quick notes and ideas that I then take to Ulysses to build out. Actually the 2 apps are a good compliment to each other. Highly recommended.

Literally the best writing app I have ever typed on. Focus mode and the dark mode, its awesome. I actually feel like a real writer!

This productivity software works perfect and Ive finished a lot of academic writing with it. However, as the ECON grad student, we are dealing with a mess of mathematical and statistical symbols / functions day by day. So really in need of support on symbols like β_hat, x_bar, or just recognize some kind of syntax when previewing and converting to Word. The bigger issue is the superscript and subscript. Actually occasionally, I found out we can use caret ^ to make superscript (BUT this doesnt mentioned on the online support website). But for the SUBSCRIPT, there is no solution of it yet (or iA just forgot to mention it). As I was aware, subscript can be reached by using underscore _ in some software, but...it seems to be occupied by italics in iA...BUT since * * is also a syntax to make italics, it makes no sense we have two same syntax for one thing!!! What about just make it common, to use underscore for subscript. Otherwise, since iA is using Unicode, why just create a syntax just enable us to put the Unicode directly. REALLY REALLY looking forward to the updates, especially for the SUBSCRIPT.
