Please add Yandex.Disk support and I will use your app every day.
With the last upgrade Writer Pro speed up the process adding full markdown text even inside the App. Very good improvement! Thanks
The idea is really nice: a single simple environment to write different kind of text documents (lists, notes and complex document) on both iOS and OS X. Unfortunately the implementation is really cheap: my main cons - in order to manage the document type, the app changes the file extension, breaking completely any user workflow! - the UI doesn’t take any advantage of the different document states: Note should be rendered in a simple way, Write can be reacher, Read can be displayed in a Preview style (e.g. Markdown Preview with a CollectionView). I’m giving two stars in the hope the developers can get this app back on track.
I really like this new program, A simple Workflow is beatiful, "the flow" as opposed to some criticism, I think its a good idea useful. the Control Syntax is magnificent, almost necessary, now also used in several languages. Im hoping for an update with the addition of: underlines would be the perfect program.
There is a collective delusion around this app on blogs online. To get a feel for this application immagine assigning a project to a creative kid with lots of questionable ideas, lacking taste and judgement to understand what works in real life and what doesn’t, unapologetically assuming to know it all, pretending to put every idea in no matter what, and very committed to reinventing the wheel. In the meantime his buddies outside are making noise and cheering him up. Whelcome to iA Writer. I’d like to ask the fans, for a quick example, if they dont feel the library view is the worst implementation of the concept, with those giagantic toys listing and with the title and preview automatically and imprevedibly picked up by the app itself. (you have no control). Or what about refusing to have buttons and setting while at the same time putting in a full memu bar (like those on the mac!) with, guess what? actions and setting, just not the ones youd want. It also gets in the way all the time you scroll your document down!, crazy. Isn’t it the worst way to implement it? I could go on with so many issues of design and even readabily, and this is just a three panel view app. Everything that could be simple and intuitive is made counterintuitive and complicated for no reason and despite their own intentions. This is a classic example of overthinking degenerated into a mess. This is the most ugly, inconsistent and disfunctinal app I have ever seen. The rationalization that goes on on their website to justify the unjustifiable is over the top. I feel bad for having eaten the hype and having encouraged them with my 10€. It is so bad I am disgusted.
I tried many markdown apps and it is the best. It is almost what a writer needs. Easy file management, nice export templates, beautiful font: Nitti, by Bold Monday, and Tiempos, by Klim Type Foundry, that cost nearly 200 euro.
Love this application and bought the pro version after a few months, got some issues with files export due to icloud and i got the fastest answer ever from customer care and it solved my issue. Thumbs up!
It was a great app until the last update. I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 9.2.1 and the iA Writer keeps crashing, I cant even open it.
I took this app seriously, and I have a lot of stuff written that I need. If this issue is not fixed soon, I will migrate to another app, and never buy any other product from these guys again.
.. Except for bugs. I was writing something and when I clicked to preview, it was stuck on infinite loop even when I closed the app and even restarted my phone... had to delete and reinstall
I moved on to Byword after using Writer for a long time because it wasnt adding more advanced features. Im very impressed with what theyve come up with, and prefer it to Byword in many ways. Congrats!
awesome app with minor bug
What a disappointing turn for iA Writer, especially on iPad. The merger of writer and writer pro has resulted in an app that doesnt do what its supposed to do well. The "File..." menu with drop downs is a Microsoft/Engineering convention which flies in the face of the touchable, effortless affordance of a handheld device. Fraught with options which I dont need, my writing experience just got a lot more heavy. The prior version was so simple—open the app, start a new file and start writing. No fonts, no sizing, no need to manage anything. I long for my classic app and since it has been overridden, I have no hope in going back to it. I know it was intended to be a nice gesture, but it has turned out to be a punishment. Now we start looking for a new, simple writing app. Sorry, guys.
I want the old version back
I previously had tried iA Writer with mixed experiences but this new unified v3 is superb! Purchased both iOS and Mac OS versions of the app, worth every penny. You can really feel they sweat out the details with this version. Little things like having folders pinned to the top of your documents and the swipe to preview. Excellent writing experience. If I had one wish it would be to let me choose the font for the writing environment, there is no option there.
Stability: Rock solid on all iOS platforms, and consistently syncs/works flawlessly on iOS 8 and 9, in addition to the desktop version for OS X 10.10 and 10.11.X. Ease of use: Doesnt get easier or more convenient than this. Literally requires no tech savvy or intuition to navigate around the wonderful features of this app. Is it really worth $9.99?: Thats up to you. Do you have more than one iOS device? If so, the price alone is worth it for iCloud syncing of notes between an iPhone and iPad, not to mention the desktop version. So, if you have an iOS device and the app for the desktop - then yes, worth every penny. Markdown notes have rarely been this easy and convenient. My only recommendation for an alternative for more hardcore text-editor users is the always-perfect, "Textastic," by Panic. Cant go wrong with Panics software, but you really cant go wrong here, either.
Solid, well-designed app. Recent changes have made this much more stable. Certainly one of the top choices for a plain text writing app.
Im an iA writer user in the Mac and bought the iOS version knowing more or less what I was getting. Its clean, easy to use, and functional. Love the Dropbox connectivity, the gestures are great, especially for previewing your markdown. This is an essential app for anyone that writes in markdown on their iPhone or iPad.
Nicely designed app, but continues to fail on iCloud sync. The app hangs on updating and deletes notes. Completely unusable.
